The links below show examples of actual academic sources for our sample paper about cats. (A few have been changed slightly to make them easier to understand). Each page has four sections:

  • Type of source: Where the information is from.
  • Original text: The information that is useful for your paper.
  • Notes/summary: How you might take notes, translate, or summarize the information. Remember that it is very important for you to use your own words!!!
  • Reference: At the end of the paper, you must list all of the sources that are used. This shows exactly how the writer would cite (= list) this type of source in the reference list at the end of the paper. This way of listing is basically APA (American Psychological Association) style. This is the international standard for papers in the field of Humanities. (You must use this style in your senior paper!
